DESCRIPTION:An Evening of Percussion With the Crystal Lake Strikers A Crystal Lake FAVORITE! Returning for the 9th straight year\, this community fundraiser is always a sellout! The Crystal Lake Strikers All-Star Drumline leads multiple groups of outstanding musicians from all over the region to present a high-energy night of percussion. The Crystal Lake Strikers also award a local high school drummer with the Tim Althoff Memorial Scholarship. In the fall of 2007\, three area men sat in a local coffee shop imagining the possibilities of forming a drumline that would achieve two essential goals: 1. Provide a performing outlet for drummers of college age and beyond. 2. Support and educate aspiring young musicians. In assembling the group\, the founders discussed the simple fact that there are so many people who started playing percussion at a very young age\, stayed with it in the various bands and drum corps\, then  nothing. The people who have an outlet for musical training past high school and college are rare. They believe this drumline provides an outlet for those individuals.
